As an Instructional Designer working in academic technology at a small liberal arts college, I have a lot of interesting conversations with faculty. I have left many of these conversations thinking about how nice it would be to share these discussions with a wider audience. That is what I will be doing in this blog -- I’ll be looking at teaching and pedagogy through a lens of academic technology. My goal is to think through different approaches to teaching and learning with an eye towards making it a better experience for both faculty and students.
My first series of posts will share ideas for dealing with AI through a pedagogical lens. I agree with most people that AI should be a wake-up call to higher education, but I would argue that we should be making changes anyway. Hopefully you will find some ideas that you can use in your classroom.
My Recommendation
In addition to my 28 years of teaching a freshman level Information Technology course and my 8 years working as an instructional designer,. I am an avid reader/follower. Throughout this blog, I’d like to thank/recommend the people who have helped shape my thinking. At the end of each post, I will recommend one book/person/blog that you might find helpful. For th is introduction post, I recommend the book Inclusive Teaching: Strategies for Promoting Equity in the College Classroom by Viji Sathy and Kelly A Hogan
